Snoring is caused when a flap of skin in the throat closes the windpipe. When a person breathes in and out, it makes that flap move. That makes noise. That is snoring. Try holding your lips together and slightly pushed out. Then breathe out. If you make a noise, that is the same principle. When some people turn on their side, that flap of skin falls out of the way and the person breathes normally. Some people require surgery to reduce the size of that skin. Others require c-pap machines to blow air in their throats to keep them from snoring. Some people have their breathing muscles get so exhausted from trying to push that flap of skin aside that they stop breathing. Their snoring kills them. |
